Flower Dance

The Houston homeowner has also commissioned Gil to create a trio of stained glass windows for the indoor poolroom. The centerpiece window, Flower Dance, will be approximately 8 ft. x 4 ft., and will be based on Gil’s original gouache on board measuring 22 in. x 10 in. The large, center window will be flanked by two smaller, oval stained glass windows. “I loved painting something so colorful and intricate from nature,” said Gil, referring to the dazzling, pink and white lily in the painting. Each delicately depicted flower petal took 11/2 days to complete.

In order to turn the Flower Dance painting into stained glass, a studio will layer painted glass to create a rich effect, much like the traditional technique used by the artist and glass manufacturer Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Limited-edition prints of this luminous work are being offered in two sizes at pre-publication prices for a limited time.”
